Recently I made Smitten Kitchen’s lemon cake:
Although it looks pretty good, the center was not airy and cake-like at all, but instead more like boterkoek. Because the outside of the cake is reasonably brown, I suspect the oven was too hot. My next cooking investment will be a thermometer for the oven.
