Sibiu
Last Friday Oana, Marius and I went to Sibiu, a city in Transylvania, in the center of Romania, about 5 hours away by train from Bucharest. It is enclosed by the Carpathian mountains and according to Wikipedia was designated European Capital of Culture for the year 2007 together with Luxembourg. And with a good reason: it’s extraordinarily pretty. We arrived late at night, and there were still some market stalls open. Snow-covered rooftops, pretty lights and a huge, real Christmas tree: the atmosphere was awesome. We had dinner in a restaurant that reminded me of Aal Veinen in Luxembourg, probably because that has a medieval feel to it as well. The hot glühwein was nice too, since it was pretty cold outside.
More pictures of Sibiu soon, when I get my dear laptop back.
