In Bucureşti
Hello from BucureÅŸti!
As you can see it’s cold and white. Yay for white Christmases! The above picture is the church near where Oana works.
The trip was a rather long one: at 8 am Maarten very kindly drove me to Utrecht central station. Then I took the train to Rotterdam, changed to the train to Brussels, then changed to the train to Brussels International Airport. I arrived at the airport 3.5 hours before departure, while I thought I’d planned a 2.5 hour gap  at least that’s better than the other way around! But then the flight got delayed by another 2.5 hours, so I waited 6 hours in total. Then when we were near Bucharest, the pilot announced that we wouldn’t land in Baneasa, but in Otopeni, and airport about 10 km further, because of the fog. The people waiting for us in Baneasa were informed of this, so they all went to Otopeni too. Then when the plane had landed, we waited 15 minutes for buses to arrive that, so we were told, would bring us back to Baneasa. Chaos ensued, and after some convincing, the buses took us to the main building of Otopeni instead. Passport control took me over half an hour, since there were 200 people to be checked by about 5 guys, manually entering passport details for each person. Oana and her friend had already been waiting for me for an hour, and at about half an hour to midnight we arrived at her place.
