This is one of two pigeons that have been in our backyard for the past five years. They have eggs together make love every year, but always in vain: the eggs fall to the floor, get eaten by magpies, or perish some other horrible death. When will they succeed?

Erg mooi! :O
“They have eggs together every year, but always in vain” – that reminded me of a quote (lol me and my quotes…) by Mother Theresa: “The success of love is in the loving – it is not in the result of loving. Of course it is natural in love to want the best for the other person, but whether it turns out that way or not does not determine the value of what we have done.”
Replace “loving” with “making eggs” (which could be the same for them doves, je ne sais pas), and voilà ! Anyway, veel succes to them! xD
Better?

As Sir Anthony Eden once said, “if you’ve broken the eggs, you should make the omelet.” (!)
That’s some excellent advice. I’ll pass it to my mom. Muito obrigado. =)
